Scottish market good for investors

Published: April 02, 2008

The Scottish buy-to-let property market is very attractive for investors.

That is according to the National Landlords Association (NLA), which said that market stability is attractive to investors.

In addition, landlords are seeing good yields and the NLA said that investors are not just focussed in the big cities now.

"You've got your traditional spots like Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. But many of the outlying areas and smaller towns are very busy now, because there's a need from people to rent for a whole variety of reasons," said David Kendall, regional representative for Scotland at the NLA.

"There are a number [of investors] coming from outwith the country, from the south-east and from Ireland as well.

"House prices [in these regions] have obviously gone up, and people who have equity are now looking for new markets to put their money into," he continued.

The Association of Residential Letting Agents recently revealed that rents across the UK rose in February.ADNFCR-1237-ID-18594748-ADNFCR
