Positive impact of Hips

Published: February 05, 2008

The introduction of Home information packs (Hips) is helping to speed up the home buying process for many.

That is according to the National Association of Residential Home Inspectors (Narhi).

Narhi has pointed out that in the past it was possible for a buyer to get some way down the line towards buying a property before a problem was highlighted and the sale fell through.

However, according to the organisation, the inclusion of a Home Condition Report (HCR) in Hips has helped to eradicate this.

Hugh Dunsmore-Hardy, chairman of Narhi, said: "By adding authorised documents such as the HCR, a number of unnecessary issues can be resolved simply. There will be no more irritating delays, frustrations, or abortive costs and the whole process will move forward more speedily to everyone’s benefit.

"Most importantly, sellers will be at an enormous advantage if they put themselves in a 'contract ready' position.

"Estate agents have a valuableopportunity to encourage clients to invest in a HCR to ensure that less sales fall by the wayside which in turn will benefit all parties in the long run. It's a win-win," he continued.
