Attractions of buying near an airport

Published: April 14, 2008

People taking out first-time buyer mortgages may benefit from buying a property close to an airport.

That is according to global property advisor DTZ, which said that there are many plus sides to living close to an aviation hub.

Despite the recent troubles with cancelled flights and lost baggage reported at Heathrow's Terminal Five, the new terminal could lead to increased opportunities for buyers.

"People who travel a considerable amount for work, and second homeowners with properties abroad are consistently seeking property near airports," said DTZ associate director Mike Bickerton.

"This affluent but time-poor group requires easy access to and from the airport and time-saving mod cons within their property," he continued.

Mr Bickerton also pointed out that people with buy-to-let mortgages can benefit from investing in property near to an airport as they can let the properties out to airport workers and cabin crew.ADNFCR-1237-ID-18594748-ADNFCR
