Halifax announce cheaper mortgage rates

The Halifax has today announced a number of reductions in their mortgage rates. With effect from Sunday 12th July, many rates across their range will be reduced, including up to 0.57% taken off two year fixed rates, which will also benefit from reduced arrangement fees. In addition, tracker rates which are for the life of the loan will benefit from a reduction in the period during which an Early Repayment charge is levied, down to two years.

The announcement, which follows an announcement earlier today by the Abbey that they will cut two and three year fixed rates by up to 0.15% as from Monday shows that despite the current environment, there are lenders who are still keen to lend money and compete for mortgage business.
