Buyers told to purchase now

First-time buyers should take advantage of the current UK housing market conditions.

That is according to Connells, which said that now is actually a good time to buy and to sell.

Liz Brown from the firm pointed out that buyers can benefit from low prices, while sellers too can reap the rewards.

"House prices at the moment are pretty static but, following recent cuts in interest rates, we expect them to start picking up again as buyer confidence returns. It therefore makes a lot of sense to buy and sell now," she commented.

"At the moment there is less competition around from cash buyers and investors so first-time buyers have a better chance of securing a good property at a realistic price.

"We understand that someone planning to sell their first property might think it better to wait until prices go up but, if they are buying and selling in the same market place then that's not the case," continued Ms Brown.

The senior area director went on to explain that sellers who are also looking to buy another property can benefit by securing their new property at a lower price too.

Halifax recently reported that house price growth will remain relatively flat during 2008.
