Buildloan expands broker team

For many years, Buildstore have built a reputation as being the number one information portal for those wishing to build their own home or renovate a dilapidated property. The launch of Buildloan saw the company expand its offerings to include some truly innovative specialist mortgages. Chief among these is the Accelerator mortgage which, unlike traditional self build mortgages, provides funding at the start of each stage rather than at the end.

Buildloan have relied on mortgage brokers and intermediaries to introduce borrowers to them, and over the years, this has provided mutual benefits to both. As a result, Buildloan has announced the appointment of Julie Johnston as key relationship manager.

Johnston, whose career has included twelve years at the Halifax, and most recently a five year stint as head of mortgage products at Mortgage Intelligence, has been tasked with increasing the amount of business received from brokers via mortgage networks and mortgage clubs.

Raymond Connor, Chief Executive at Buildstore explained that the credit crunch had only had a limited impact on the self build and renovation market, and indeed, apart from pricing, the products on offer are almost identical to those which were available prior to the difficulties. He explained,

"Self build is more complex so Julie’s appointment is at an ideal time allowing us to provide intermediaries with an enhanced level of support. We are delighted to have someone of Julie’s calibre and experience on the broker team."
