The Leek United Building Society was established in 1863 under the name of Leek United Permanent Benefit Building Society. In 1919, the name was changed to Leek United and Midlands Building and remained unchanged until 1990 when the name was shortened to Leek United Building Society.

In 1954 the Society opened its first branch in Derby, and is now represented in 4 counties, namely Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Cheshire and Shropshire.

The Leek United Building Society’s Head Office is at 50 St Edward Street, Leek, and has been operating from St Edward Street since 1871, albeit at various premises.
